i checked my error codes today and my a 522 came up... it says that a 522 means park/neutral position(pnp) or clutch pedal position circuit fault- pnp
Transmission MLP sensor out of range in park- transmission
well, all that i know is that it cannot be my clutch...cuz i dont have one  but aside that i am lost on how to fix it??? any ideas?

According to SHOTimes, code 522 indicates that the car was in gear (not in park) when the codes were run. If this was not the case, then the sensor that detects where the linkage is may have some issues.

Are you having troubles with your car? If so please describe, it'll help us to determine why you got that code and possible ways of fixing it. Also, not to insult....but are you sure you read the codes right?

well the car was in neutral with the p brake set, so that may have something to do with it. I am pretty sure that i read it correctly 5 flashes followed by 2, and again by 2, is that right?? The problem is that my CEL comes on after a period of starts and stops while driving (in residential areas stop signs and what not) i am not sure where the problem lies, and thats why i am confused about the code....any ideas, or are you confused as well

p.s i am going to check my codes again, just to double check....

Have the car in park when you run the codes. Apparently on the ATX it must make a difference.

The symptoms you mention above is probably just the 02 sensors. They otherwise don't really show any outward symptoms until they get really bad.

ok well i tried it again, this time in park.... same code 522, but here is another thing, i was revving the engine to try and on engine on test, and when the tach reached around mid 3, and 4 the cel light popped on, but when off as soon as i let off the gas.....so i tried it again, but disabled the testing unit, and the same thing happened....whats up with that, or is it prolly still that o2 sensor??

Typically when you have no other outward sign that something is wrong....ie: the car is running fine, you notice no power problems or hesitation, etc. and the CE light comes on it is typically an 02 sensor causing it. When mine were bad I never got the CE light when at highway speeds, it was always when I slowed down to city speeds and stop and go traffic.

Bosch 13942 - $38.88 each where I live. It should be comparable there in Cincy. You really only need to replace the one that's shooting the codes, however I feel that they are like headlights, spark plugs, etc. Replace one, replace them all so if it was up to me I'd replace them both because no doubt the other is soon to follow. :)
