Ok since I will soon be buying Koni inserts, I wanted what housings were recommended for them?

Could I use my current KYB GR2 housings? Or would I need to buy a whole new set of struts to start all over?

Gary,
The ID of the housing is larger than the OD of the insert. Whatever I said you figured it out! Anyhow you may have installed them in the early 89-91ish part which had the flat weld on top that tapers up snug under it, thus when cutting it the ID is too tight unless you go down further where it'll open up a bit. In any case the answer I found was to use the 93 housing which allowed the cut up much hight and the swedge fit of the knurl into it. No rattle, ever that I know if. Used to be a pain tho as I stripped out so many cars here in PHX to sell "assembled only" koni conversions! My money on the new guy is to get these parts, identifiable by their 'gold' caps. No beef here about it, just trying to help someone not have future problems.

Or yes I can but will get some sort of rattle?

I think you have to use stock strut housings. If you need a set, let me know.
Want me to email you to inquire about the set of 4?

Does the condtion of the housing itself affect how the Koni inserts will fit? If it wont make a difference can I use some cheap $20/each struts from Sears or something and install the Koni inserts in them?

One more question I have is, will the stock housings affect height/stance at all? Seeing as the GR2 housing are a but smaller and the spring seats are as well.

I'm thinking about going to GR2 KYB's as well, so what do we use as springs if we cannot use intrax or koni inserts with these upgraded struts?

I had my SHO dropped 2.50"front/1.75"rear with SS springs and GR2's. For a good year they had a great ride then it started degrading little by little after that year mark.

All I wanted to know if we can use the GR2 housing with the Koni inserts, I guess i'll need to call Koni directly for that answer.

You would probably be the first to try this. That's why you haven't seen a reply to your question. Let us know what you find out!
