Earlier this year (may) my car started making a very bad deisling noise. I had multiple people look at it and all figure's it is the rod bearing. Now i can get them for like $6 or $8 each at napa, but do i have to worry about my crank being damaged or any other internal engine damage? thats the only thing im worried about TIA

Oh Yeah, it did start doing it at the track and my temp guage sky rocketed. I let it cool for about 2 hours, and the i drove it about 10 miles or so back into town and it was makin the sound worse and even shut off in an intersection. so i parked it and came the next day to pick it up,

Thanks

I'm afraid it probably scored the crank too - in which case, you're looking at a motor swap. Once you've driven on them... it can be very ******* the crank.

It's really hard to tell without getting in there. One thing that's comes to mind, is to cut open the oil filter and see how mutch metal and copper is in there. The more copper you see, the worse the damage.

Well, the only way to tell for sure is to drop the pan and check it out. If they are gone, then you are no worse off. If they can be swapped and the crank is gonna be ok, then you are good. But, ultimately you just need to get in there and check it out.
