It looks freakin awesome. My reflexes love it and my brain says nightmare. What's the original sticker and what's the depreciation, and why? That's what I usually think.
The original MSRP was in the 140s. This one is loaded with options. I am just glad it is 250 miles away so I don't test drive it. The depreciation is pretty normal for cars like that.
The depreciation is so high because they are a fortune to maintain. Like not worth it. Who is the SHO guy on here that just came out of a nightmare BMW and got back in a SHO? I think he had a high hp model too. You might be in a shop for weeks depending on part availability.
Don't get me wrong. Drool city on the looks and specs.
There is an oil consumption issue on the early builds of that motor(i.e. some of the early 2012 builds). The fix is a new motor. Guessing that could get close to 20k pretty fast.
A few years before this model shown, one of the car mags reviewed a BMW 740 I think that had over 140 electric motors in the car. For instance, when you went to close the door, the car would roll the windows down 1/4" so that they would close more easily (sealed pretty tight I guess) then automagically roll them back up once the door was shut.
At that time I vowed to never own a BMW that was not under Full Boat warranty with loaners provided. I guess it worked, I have never owned one.
And from talking with my pal who owns a garage, I am renewing my vow. But if you are still tempted:
Find out what the service history is. What often happens is that they are "behind" on maintenance, missing one or two of the major services, which will cost you $5 - 10K. Not kidding. And the Alpina is the top line, like AMG is for M-B, so it's likely to have unique parts that have to be shipped by slow boat from the homeland.
