What do you all do for cold air intakes? No one seems to make any, so it seems like I would have to custom make one, but I could be wrong?

Or do you all just remove the cone muffler from inside the fender and call it good?

No one makes any because the stock cold air intake works very well. I have the SHO Shop set up that gave me about 100hp worth of noise, but gained maybe 4whp (within the margin of error) at most.

Ive got a SHO Shop intake, different than jedhead's though. The guy who sold me my exhaust threw it in with the deal. The K&N filter is actually IN the fender, which is kinda a PITA to get to...... Its louder for sure though.

Yea, I know all factory intakes are cold now, but now the general term for Cold Air Intake seems to be the increased noise, I can never see how a K&N intake is a cold air intake, when you relocate an open filter under the hood with a bunch of warm air.

All I want to do is make the secondaries louder!

I removed the silencer cone this afternoon, and it definitely seems louder, but I will have to take it for a nice spirited run on the highway

A K&N panel filter in the box will increase your intake noise as well. As far as hp gain from it, there isnt much (if any). There is also some debate about fitlering ability versus the regular paper one and u have to be careful about over oiling it or it can get oil on your maf and make it run like crap. Personally I have a K&N in mine. The car came with it and I have 175K on the clock with no issues.

Goodcars makes them for the Gen I and II. I purchased one off ebay 2 years ago for $90 and like it, it is sealed like the Shoshop one and cleans up the engine bay nicely. I noticed a bit of improved tip in throttle response after replacing the stock intake equipped with K & N panel filter.

I will probably keep it with the cone removed and drop in a Amsoil EAA DryFlow filter. No oiling to worry about and lasts the lifetime of the car.

Here's what I did... But it's on the passenger side of the car now... The filter is now is about three times as large as the one pictured as this one became a restriction.

Jason's CAI is connected to a belt driven hair dryer.

But he wasn't the first. ;)

You have to use it on the low/no heat setting, or all the madd HP gains will be lost to hot intake air.

1500W is for wusses, my belt driven hair dryer is conservatively rated at 25KW.

^ I'm thinking i'm going that direction. It's too tempting, I used to be against it, but that's because I didn't think there was a reliable/non damaging way to use it. I used it years ago, but that wasn't on a car.
