Weld em, pin em or lose em. Go to V8SHO.Com see how many failures are reported daily from across the country. You can hang all the go fast toys you want later.
Or you can spend 2/3's of what it would cost to weld your cams, put the chip in and wait to hear the tick tick tick that will stop both your heart and engine. Your call. IMHO

It's a preventative maintainance issue. Your car will run better if it's cleaned up during the weld, other than that, it's purely to prevent you from aquiring a 3000+lb paper weight.

In no way will it make your car go faster. It will save your car from blowing it's engine up when the sprockets work thamselves loose from the cam and start freespinning sending your valves into the pistons. ~$12,000 later you will have a new engine installed. Seriously, check out V8SHO.com. This should be your first mod period end of story.

Yup, preventative maintenance. If you don't weld or pin the cams, eventuall your 1/4 mile time would be how fast you could push that car down the strip.

There really isn't much to be gained by JUST adding a chip. Actually, there have been people report problems with some of the chip-makers, so be careful.

Until the day you do major power-adders, the stock programming is actually very good.

If you get a chance to look at SHOZ123's mod list you can see why HE went with FordChip.

If you're looking for mods that won't cost you an arm, or a leg, look into UDP's, or the VAKS, or a shift-kit (little more $$$), or beef up the suspension or brakes.

If you're looking for ways to make your car go 0-60 in 6.0 seconds, you have the wrong car.

EDIT: I just noticed you're in Illinois. Lucky for you there's an upcoming Camfest right next door! You can get your cams welded by Kirk (SHODWN) and never worry about them again.

well now that i feel 8 times stupider, and 10 times smarter, i now know what to do first, and this will be the first thing to do...weld down the cams as a preventative precaution...actually this is kinda a funny story, i drove with another SHO who told me about blowing his engine and having to rebuild it...so yes, that is the first mod, and prolly go with the ford chip, becuase it puts out enough, and won't **** me money wise...thanks for all your help everyone, and taking me under your wings thumbs_u

If there is a fool-proof super chip for the V8 SHO let us know. Three years of checking out this forum and the only thing I have learned about the chip for the V8SHO is that it will crap up your car.

You might want to edit your name and remove the 'supercharged' from it until you do/pay/work out all the problems with it.
