I got a 96 sho, and its been doggy for a while so i ran codes on it and i turned out to be the imrc. so i ordered it (took about a week) i was chompin at the bit to put it in. the actuator came in but i had to wait another three days for teh mounting bracket ( that sucked) But i finally got it put in , and wow what a difference the other half of the intake makes, up to 120 like that, and plenty more throttle left, awesome.
Well, i took apart the old actuator and it turns out that the only plastic piece that was in there was broken, has anyone else ever had that happen before.

Not me personally, but the IMRC failure (plastic pulley) does frequently occur.

You're not the only one to have gone through this. I know of a couple gents that drove around for more than 6 months thinking thats all their SHO had in it...

Gotta love little pieces of broken plastic :)

What are the symptoms of a failed IMRC other than lack of top-end power?
I would imagine that there isn't the same level of intake noise at 3400rpm+, correct?

I'd think if you've got ANY sort of intake mod done you'd know it right away if it didn't work correctly. I was pretty amazed how much more intake noise was there after just taking out the "sax" and replacing it w/3" tubing..

If you take the appearance cover off it is easy to watch the IRMC cable as you goose it while in park. It will open at the ~3500 rpm and then again as the throttle is closed.
