Took awhile to get everything wired and tuned, but man does it hit!

I was just tired of the crackly stock JBL. I'm a little bit of a SQ freak. Not quite audiophile (as I haven't got that kind of cash), but I like to listen to good clean tunes.

And it really wasn't too expensive. I've spent more on things I enjoy alot less. Plus it's nice after years of listening to crappy stuff to finally have the cash to buy the good stuff.

A shade over $500.

Pioneer 6.5" $99
RF 5x8" $99
RF 10" $69
RF 201S amp $169
Misc. install accessories $75

Might could have bought it cheaper off the net, but it's worth the extra dollars to walk out with the stuff the same day.

I haven't drilled through the firewall either. I ran the cable through a small space between the fender and the engine compartment (if you open your hood and your pass door and look down the hood, you'll see it). Then I ran it through the factory wiring rubber grommet thingy in the door jamb. From there it went under the carpet to the back seat. Under the back seat straight into the trunk.

The only part I don't like is the small part (about 1") that is exposed between the fender and the grommet. I'll try to take a picture and show you what I mean. It's by no means ghetto, but it bothers me. Anyone else probably wouldn't even notice it. Could probably wrap it in some type of factory looking tape and it would be totally camoflauged.

The reason though is because I have no idea where to run the wire. Normally, I would drop the glove box and drill through there. Not on a SHO. I do think there is a small space beside the ECM, but haven't had time to look.

The amp is mounted in the factory sub position by the way.

I ran mine through the existing grommet for the power antenna lead. It's a tight fit though, and I'm only running 4ga. Theres also an unused grommet on the driverside, above the clutch pedal, but its not too easy to get to, and you have to run the wire along the entire firewall first.

You "could" but dont plan on using a much bigger amp. Wiring of that gauge can only deliver so many amps at a time.

Would you happen to know an estimate on how many. Could it handle 150 watts of continuous power?

Living in fear of an interior fire (I've seen more than two in my life because of improperly run power cables for amps), I have ALWAYS run my amp power wires under the car in an out of the way spot. There's a place under the spare tire that'll accomadate up to 4 gauge amp wire and plenty of safe spots under the car to run the wire. I've not had a problem with anything getting cut, hung, sliced, or abraded, and I've had my system in for over a year of cross-country driving.
