I bought a 2013 SHO non pp with 46,000 miles sweet right?....no not really...... literally with in two weeks of ownership I was alrdy having issues. My first week I bought a colder t stat, plugs colder gap, 3bar, torrie tune, drop in k&n...installed it all drove the car, every time I WOT from a dead stop the bitch would "wheel hop" THUMP THUMP THUMP .... Then every time I would creep through a parking lot it would up shift and down shift hard....really hard like a clunk pop....I was like man wtf is wrong with this thing. Thennnnnn every time I would drive 60mph and give it "light acceleration" it would hesitate. Now with all this being said I detuned it and drove it again and was still having tranny issues and hesitate issues...so.....I said **** it took it to oooolllllddddd Norris Ford up the street. They have informed me my shit PTU had been leaking and there was oil all over some sensors they said that was the start of the issues. Waiting too hear back from them I assume they are going to replace seal check for damages and replace some sensors. Did I make a huge mistake buying this car? Literally owned it for 2 weeks now....shit crazy fellers....ford needs to get there shit straight man...:nono:

The hesitation might be the typical accumulation of oil in the intercooler, and the results from that (dirty MAP?).

But you have to take some responsibility for the rest if the PTU was leaking and you didn't notice before you bought it. Was it a private sale? Or from a reputable reseller?

it was from a reputable dealer. and the reason i dont agree with you is because these cars are suppose to go through inspections. this leak did not just happen. it been there, and for them to sell me the car knowing this information is criminal. its not like i had a lift i could put it on and inspect it. i did however take it for a short test drive but honestly the issue didn't show its head till a week or so. that seems to be my luck. but i will say this i did get a extended warranty an so far the work and parts are covered. so far.....

Sorry to hear your having those issues, especially with such low miles. I'm not an expert on SHO's but I'm sure some of the real experts will chime in at any time. IMO I wouldn't say you shouldn't of bought it, they are some really awesome cars. This possibly could be a blessing in that your tranny will get serviced properly, and with the upgrades you mentioned, it will certainly make you glad you stuck with it. Hope they take care of your issues. Let us know the end result

welcome to shoforum! I would point out that while there can indeed be design issues with these cars (as evidenced by TSBs and recalls), since the car is not new (at least 4 yrs old), it could easily be contribution from the previous owner/poor dealership servicing.

As for wheel hop, what tires are on the car and how much tread is there on them? Has the alignment been checked? Are the shocks and struts in good shape & not leaking? Hopefully Norris will replace the PTU and that will be the end of the hop, but you will have to keep on it if not.

And every time the PCM is flashed, it will have to re-learn the strategy, so the shifting will have ... "issues". The light acceleration thing definitely sounds like a PTU issue, especially if going uphill; there is a TSB on it.

Thanks for the help they are brand new hanook v12. And I haven't inspected the shocks or any surrounding items I just got the car but I will check or hopefully the dealer will look. As for changing the PTU I don't think they are he said that they are replacing the seal so...idk I asked if the ptu was damaged he said they are looking into it. But as for now they said just a seal change but that has me worried.

If the leaking fluid was a dark brown color, then definitely the PTU needs to be changed. If the fluid was a mix of brown/reddish pink, then I can see the seal being the issue, for now. Of course there are 2 seals to consider, the one between the axle and the PTU, and the one between the transmission and the PTU. The PTU-driveshaft seal rarely (not never) gives out.

Also you may want to ask Torrie to ease up on the shift pressures, this has helped with other shift points as well. When going WOT, if you are brake launching, best to keep it below 2000 rpm now that your SHO is tuned.

Thanks for your input I'll ask the tech that was working on it tomorrow and figure out what's going on about the fluid (it's still at the stealership). But I think they will just say the seal needed to be changed due to them trying to save money. Seems like the typical thing to do, but they did say when they test drive it if it's still messed up they will further the solution so who knows....time will tell...
