when i got to college yesterday, i heard an unusaual noise coming from the tranny. I thought it was the TOB. so when i got home i was going to put some more in.
i get out of school, got to start her up. no problems. put her into first, take off. doing about 10 mph, school speed limit, i shift to 2nd, well try to. She wont get in to second.... I try 1st again.... nothing..... so i pull of th road. get her back into first and take off, this time its different. she hesitates, the jumps, then catches. Im siting there like, .
then i shift to second, nothing again.
i pull off to the side, let the clutch out, and she dies. ..... I start her back up, and try to get her moving, but she wont move. everytime i let the clutch out he starts to die.
so i call my dad, he says that the tranny might be stuck between two gears.
So i call my mechanic, the guy who did the tranny before. he says the same thing. well when im under the hood, i lean on the car, without the parking brake on, the car rolls?????
So i go back to my shop, and ask if i can bring it in and check it out. i bring the car in, by pushing it backwards. my teacher says let me try it. so he gets in, an starts it up, and slowly lets the clutch out. She moves, then makes the same sound she made on me before. but this time he got her moving. he puts her in reverse and backs up. he says well put it up jack stands.
I get her up in the air, pull the tires off, get under the car to see if i can see anything wrong. well there was my axle seal leak, but, the axle seemed to be slightly out. Didnt think of it really quick, so i tried turing the drivers side. Then i got under the car, cause i heard a sound..... turned it again, and saw that the pass. side wasnt turning..... :frown:
the thing is, when something happen to my car, i normally get ****** at it, which i think some of us always do, but this time, i wasnt even mad, angry, or anything towards my car. I was just upset, like to the point were i started thinking about it, made me just want to  :vomit: :slap: :shakehead  .

So, this is probably the end of the sho game for me. i dont even want to explain how i feel right now, nor do i want to hear, You should have bought a quaife. not unless you feel like giving me 1200, then dont say it. please.
but if i can figure something out, maybe with some help here, i will know what i need to do. as it stands, i have around $500 to spend. I know its not alot, but if i can buget this as much as i can, i would really like to.
So, if any can give me tips, or need a better description of what happened, please tell me. i hope beth stops by. i could really use her help right about now, both mechanically and mentally....
thanks guys,
Josh

Are there any holes in the case? If not DON'T try and put it into gear any more with it running, your just going to make it worse if there is somthing internally wrong. Can you shift through the gears with the engine off? It sound like you really need to get than tranny out and inspect it for internal damage. I have a good set of internals that I may part with or you could pick up a used tranny for not all that much if need be.

Yes i can shift through all gears while off. no holes either.
thats another thing i really dont want to do, is pull the tranny out.... oh well.
another thing i forgot to mention, there is a bolt that goes on the very bottom of thr tranny, that goes throught the ?rear main seal? the metal seal between the tranny and engine.. ?? anyways, that bolt wasnt there, and the metal seal was kinda tweaked allitle. the holes didnt line up. so im guessing one of the times i tried to get her moving i snaped that bolt.

That sounds like one of the bolts that goes from the oil pan to the tranny. The metal plate is dust shield for the flywheel. That would not cause you problem (one of mine has been missing for quiet a while). Does the clutch disengage smooth?

Plan out how you want to support the engine before your start. You can support it from above and drop the subframe or you and put it on jack stands and lower the sub frame a bit and take it out the side. I would also highly recommend watching the SHOnut tranny video, nothing like seeing it done right before your own eyes.

I agree with jelloslug, 30 bucks for that video is money well spent. When i got my 60k video it made it as simple as can be and i even put the tv and vcr out in the garage when i did it the first time and just followed the tape. Worked great.

With that $800-1000 I would buy a used trans in good condition for anywhere from $300-500. Install the new/used trans and drive the car without doing burnouts or drag racing and use the left over money to start saving for a quaife. Then if your old trans case and internals are still decent you can use that when you get a quaife. Swap in your new rebuilt trans w/ quaife and then sell the temporary trans recouping your original expenditure for the used trans. Does this make sense?

yes, it makes sense. sounds like a plan. but im not too sure about the whole putting it in, then taking it out, then putting it back in.....
does that make sense?

you know guys, i just remebered something, im not to sure if it will help or not...
the few days before this happened, when i take off from a lite, after i let the clutch out, it would bog out. it didnt feel like it was motor. so i was thinking trans.
i would take of regularly, and then once the clutch was disengaged, it i guess you could say ******. not a pull, but a stopping ****.... hope thatexplains it....
I just now thought of that... what could that be. and could that have been the start of my problems?

Get the tranny out of the car. If there aren't any holes, you're going to need to open it up (if there are holes, you'll need to find a tranny). Your descriptions do not provide enough information for an accurate over-the-internet diagnosis. The tranny has to come out no matter what, so you may as well see what is going on with it rather than continue guessing.
