Most of you owners on here are like SHO gods (lowercase, sorry) I know someone has had to replace a worn motor mount. If you could please spare some time for a lowly nOOb?

Whenever I accelerate, whether heavy foot or light foot on the gas pedal, there's a weird squeak or squawk coming from under or around the engine. Sometimes like back and forth squawking.

So is that what bad engine mounts sound like?

Thanks.

Check for a buff mark on the front of your intake. That's a good sign of a worn front mount.

You can check them another way too. Pop the hood and have somebody watch the motor. Make sure they're not ion front of the car just in case. Then, put the emergency brake on. Put the car in 1st and start to let up on the clutch. If the motor pops up, I'd say more than an inch or two, you have a bad front mount. Do the same in reverse to check the rear mount.

Whenever MINE have gone bad, it usually happened while banging gears (yrs ago, don't drive like that anymore) so it was never a slight noise:nut:

My car makes so many noises, I could spend the next 3 months tracking them down:frantic:!

I consider myself an SHO angel, I'm sure one of the gods will chime in:pray:

Ah ha! Thanks SHO angel! I wondered how I could see the motor moving while I was driving, guess thats better than driving with the hood up and running over little kids.

And the buff mark thing I can check right now.

You could always repair it by drilling through it and putting in some bolts. Some people have done this with it on the car (though I think it would be tough). I took mine out to reinforce them. A search for reinforced motor mounts should give you a few pics, Could be a fix until you pull the motor. Oh, and where in Indiana are you located? I'm just noth of Ft Wayne

Quite interesting, I may try it since it's gonna be awhile to pull the engine. I'm in South Bend, and I must say, the SUV's run rampant up here. I've only seen two SHO's other than mine, a red one and a green one. Pathetic.

Ive always wanted to make a guide, maybe I'll try that out..
