Ok this is a new one on me. Since I replaced my intake I have noticed that every once in a while under hard acceleration the idiot light on the dash for my brakes comes on for a second and then goes right back off. This is the same light that comes on when the e brake is set. Anyone have any ideas what might be causing this?

not sure, but it may be a wire that gets pressure put on it under hard accel ??? or.... it may be something in the brake assembly that moves under hard accel....

Back in Michigan ... again.
Check your brake fluid and the thickness of your brake pads at all four wheels. My Contour was doing the same thing. Eventually it got to the point when the light was on almost constantly and not just under accel. Turns out my rear pads were so thin that a larger than normal amount of brake fluid was required to squeeze the calipers together, causing the brake light to come on.

You may also have a slightly sticky ebrake or a loose connection down there somewhere. I'd say the odds of this being related to your intake removal are pretty slim...that is unless you somehow smacked the master cylinder while yanking that mass of aluminum out of there!

Sounds like your e-brake cable may be a little loose. Don't know how that would relate to your intake job though. Mine has done that every now and then since I had my e-brake cables replaced. Check to see if your e-brake pedal seems loose when not engaged. If it is you can adjust it where the cables connect to the "T" under the car up by the driver's door (or thereabouts).

Nice job on your intake! Very nice!

If it's any comfort too you, this is a BIG taurus problem, SHO and regular. It always seems to be triggered by some sort of work being done on the car. Lemme guess, it also goes off when you do hard cornering?
Nobody has come up with how to fix it, either on this board or in real life that I know. There was a big post about it awhile ago.

I have that happen to. The cause for me is the spring the holds the e-brake pedal has deformed over time and doesn't always rest high enough to let the sensor know it's disengaged.

Take out the lightbulb and get in the habit of pulling the e-brake release everytime you start the car.

If you look at the E brake swithc, you will see that (at one time) there was a rubber pad that shuts the light off. Almost every SHO I have seen, has this part melted, causing the light.

yea, dont pull the idiot light. too hard anyway. just unplug the switch under the ebrake pedal. thats prob it, and no more light. unless you really need it like when your fluid is low.
