Okay I had noticed that my Westgate duty cycle was a little on the high side. Started looking for Boost leaks. So far I have come across a couple that I hadn't seen before, or at least not mentioned much.
First one is sort of obvious, but I was sort of surprised how bad it was. The PCV valve was leaking. It had a lot of dry buildup in it. It's amazing how much air can flow into the engine block when you're under boost. Also make sure your catch can, if you have one, is screwed back together tight. Made that mistake a while ago, what a mess.
The thing with a PCV valve leak, is that the high pressure in the crankcase can cause oil back up in the turbo charger Center housing. So your turbo starts to leak oil past the end seals, because it has a hard time draining back into the oil pan against the pressure in the crankcase.
This brings me to the second odd boost leak I found. The O-ring seal between the center housing and the compressor housing was allowing oil to leak past. Not to mention compressed intake air to leak past. Never thought this would be a problem. A very small application of silicone, to the disassembled compressor housing o-ring seal helped solved this.
It was that or just replace the O-ring which might just start leaking again eventually.
Another odd one that I've come across is the O-ring seal on the intake manifold map sensor.

I'm thinking about asking to have this made a sticky with a list of different boost leaks people have encountered.
There are obvious ones of course such as noise maker and various clamps.
So what has anyone else run into, in the way of strange boost leaks?
