Wavetrac install questons

Hi all,
Got a few questions regarding my Wavetrac install (basically I just want to make sure). I am using Shonuts Quaife video. Questions are as follows
1. You reuse both the top and bottom bearing from your stock diff......pull them and have them pressed onto the Wavetrac. Just making sure since on the quaife video I believe he used new bearing since he was also rebuilding
2. I only need to remove the race in the trans case that has the shim behind it? You dont need to do anything with the race in the other half of the case.

Am I correct about these. I already did a semi rebuild on my trans when I had it out 2 winters ago. Thanks

I would never re use the diff bearings. Buy new Timken bearings.

#2 is correct, but I would also change the races. They will come with the new bearings.

Would anyone happen to have the Timken part # for the bearing. The one I found was 32205....is this the correct one? It wasnt listed as a diff bearing, but it was listed for the MTX-V. Thanks

I know Bizzy knows... I thought I still had em, but I've upgraded the OS on this computer twice since I found those numbers last time and can't seem to find where I put those #'s.

I found them at Shonut. Thanks......so far I have the trans out and apart.....just waiting on the postal service.

Also agree with whats been said... chances are you will damage the bearing cup & cone removing it; besides your already in there might as well replace it.

Also, for installing the new cone onto the diff, their is a special ford tool used to press the cone on:



Notice the lip; this allows the bearing to be fully seated, and the shaft part fits inside the diff helping to ensure the bearing is going on perfectly straight. Makes installation a lot easier... but if you can find a socket the right size that would also work.

Removing the old cups was a PITA for me... one came out easily with a punch, the other one I had to weld a bead along the inside in order to get it to shrink enough.

Im going to go ahead and replace the races and bearings. My races came our fairly easily once I got the case hot enough......I used an oxygen and mapp gas torch. I've got the the nonshim race pulled in already.....just waiting on UPS to arrive with the wavetrac so I can shim it, pull the race in and reassemble.

Yes, Josh's video is great. I used it a couple of years ago when I rebuilt the trans and welded the diff....and agian this time. Pics would be a good idea...I always forget about that.
