Hey Guys, Happy New Year.

Turns out the check engine light meant it was time for a new water pump. Thanks to the guidance from this group, my ford ESP will pay for all but the $100 deductible. Today the dealer called to say the tech recommends replacing the timing chain, tensioner and guides. Ford will not pay for it of course but he said I would only have to pay for the parts ($200ish), not labor since the engines already apart.

Part of me says forget it, let it break and then ford can pay for the whole thing (minus deductible). I do not know if it’s just a way for the dealer to get some more cash from me? Other part of me says it makes sense since it is already apart.

Appreciate your views.

Thanks!

If it's just parts I'd get it all done. That's the cheapest H2o pump and timing replacements I've ever heard of. Big win at $300. Don't worry, other stuff will break, it's a SHO.

Thanks Majestic and Luigisho. I told them to go ahead. They didnt have the glides in stock but he said they were OK so they are just replacing the chain. I can't wait to get it back.... and give back the fusion rental.

no new glides. By the time I called back they already started putting it back together. But at least i'm covered if they go down the road. The ford ESP has already paid for itself.
