Water Pump Question

Hey, my water pump just went out yesterday. I plan on replacing it on Thursday, is there anything extra that i need to do while ive got everything apart. Also is it very hard, it looks pretty difficult because there is no space to get to it. Thanks

It's not the easiest job you will ever do, but it IS do-able. Since you are in there, you may want to think about replacing your timing belt (gonna have to take it off anyway), and perhaps the crankshaft sensor too. If you really want to go in depth you can replace you front crank seal while you're at it, too.

One step that may help you...you don't have to remove the whole intake. Just the crossover tube that the DIS module is mounetd to.

How long does it usually take to replace the water pump? I really dont want to take it to a shop because they are quoting me 400-500 bucks and most of its labor. I checked on the water pump and they want 197 bucks for one.

It woudl probably take me 5-6 hours to do it..but I take my time too.
$197 for a waterpump is a lot..but that sounds like you're pricing a whole new pump. You probably only need the front of it witch is more like $50 from Napa or another one of your favorite auto parts places. Might want to pickup the water pump gasket kit while you're at it, and replace all the gaskets and O-rings since you're in there. The gasket kit is like $5.50 from O'rileys.

Depending on whether or not it's had it's front 60K, I would do the whole thing while I'm in there. (You might as well because you have to take everything apart as it is, so it's just parts.

It took me 8 hours the last time I did it, that was my third time.
