So I was driving my 03 Mitsubishi Diamante 3.5L V6 FWD, and for the last couple of days it keeps getting stuck in 3rd gear the safety feature thing and my neutral would flash while in drive, this happened maybe 6 months ago and it was frequent, I noticed someone messed with my fuses and I replaced them, and then it just went away, I got a oil change and it started to do it again within the past week, sounds very strange but to me it seems to only do that when my engine is full from the change, I do have a pretty bad oil leak I changed the the front valve cover gasket, will be changing the back soon its just a pain to get to on it, but last week I was driving, and it started doing that the next day I had to go to work and it was doing it, I was going around 45 or so and watching my rpms so I didn't over run it in the gear, and I pushed the gas a little excessive, not even over 3k rpms I think it reclines at 6 or 7k, and the engine and everything just cut off, I pulled over and it acted like it wants to start, it cranks but wont cut on, i kept trying, I got it to ignite but I literally had the gas pedal in the middleish and it was acting like it was a bad fuel filter or pump, cut right back off like no gas was getting to it. I got it to turn over and stay on for like 10 seconds but it sounded like the engine wasnt timing right or something. I got a tow truck to pick it up, he happens to own a big car lot/mechanic shop in my hometown, no signs in the front but it's been there since I was a kid, I'm 26, never met him until now, he says he knows my vehicle and they hav e good engines etc. And we talked and I told him I am a 4th generation mason and telling him about me, and kinda grace of god or idk haha, he needs a mailbox rebuilt and some other things done around his home. So basically he says I can pay off whatever needs done to my car by horse trading. That was friday, I been contacting him to see if hes figured anything out and he had been waiting to get my car in so he didn't know what the issue was until sunday, then yesterday, monday, we call him and he says hes getting the part he figured out what was wrong, apparently my water pump was leaking onto the CPS (crankshaft position sensor) [my dad talked to him on the phone, I should have so I could have got more detail but I thought my dad would be better just cuz hes older but hes more of just finding out and paying whatever] he then goes to say hes gonna put on that part and see about maybe putting a new water pump on my car, still haven't gotten a estimate at all and he didn't know what was wrong with it until he got it in the shop sunday, but it's been there since friday.. I'm worried I'm being lied to about what is really wrong with my car it just seems farfetched my water pump leaking onto the sensor. My car does have a whining/squealing sound when you turn the wheel all the way to the right, especially if you back up with it to the right, but that seems like a power steering pump? sorry for the long intro haha but basically my question is
