Ive been smelling coolent for a week or so and finally found out that it looks like my water pumps leaking.I cant really tell if its the weep hole or the gasket leaking. Its not leaking bad but im not driving it until its fixed, aluminum engines and overheating dont mix to well.Has anyone ever had a problem with there water pump going out or the gasket leaking?I dont want to replace the pump and find out that it was not even bad,ive never heard of a 3rd gen having a pump puke out yet.The car has 125000 on it.Thanks

I had a minor leak in mine that gave a bit of a coolant smell back at about 65,000 or so. They replaced it under warranty. Now at 154K or so and no problems since.

Don't think there is a weep hole. i just took one apart and not many parts. If it is the gasket it can easily be siliconed shut. The water pump comes apart and off quite easily.

There are weep holes on the V8 water pump, and while rare they can leak. I've only had to replace 2 V8 water pumps in over 300 I've worked on.

Indeed it does have a weep hole. I would suspect the gasket. It is steel and can be glued in if it is leaking.

Here is a pic of the pump disassembled.
