I recently purchased my first SHO (93) MTX. The owner had a performance shop install a new water pump. I notice some slight smell of coolant after I purchased it. After about two days it started leaking coolant badly!! I pulled the car up on the ramps but cannot pinpoint exactly where the leak is coming from. It seems to be coming from the water pump area. It definitely not the hose. Does anyone have any idea if this new pump could be bad or not sealed correctly? Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!

Thanks jhollie :hail:

its probably a safe bet that when the water pump was installed that the housing may have been shifted enough to break the seal for the transfer tube...if thats the case then you would have no choice but to tear it all apart again to put new seals on the tube, plus while thats being done check and make sure the tube is not rotted...at one time this was a common problem....regardless you are going to have to dig into this...no way around it

when i did the 60k on my 92 i had to tear the front apart 3 times because the tube kept leaking. turned out the housing the water pump sat in was slightly corroded so the o-ring wouldnt seal tightly. it wouldnt hurt to put some RTV sealant on there, or get a new housing.
