Good Afternoon All,

I'm still pursuing the concept of a front outlet for the thermostat. I was going to see about hooking up to the top of the pump housing where the big freeze plug goes in. I have a 3.0 and a 3.2 in the garage. I'm looking to eventually build the 3.2 so I don't want to mess up the pump housing for it while I explore outlet options.

So, are the 3.0 and 3.2 pump housing the same? I know the pumps themselves are different but the question is are the housings different?

Thanks!

I believe that they are specific to the timing belt setup that you are going to run.

Hi Again, just to clarify, I mean the housing not the pump. The piece the transfer tube goes into at the front of the engine. The answer you gave already probably applies but I wanted to be sure we were talking about the same thing. Thanks!

Chaz, yes the covers are different. Ran into the same issue on my 914-SHO build. I had a 3.0 front housing on my water pump and the offset for the pulley didn't line up with the 3.2 accessory belt. I had to swap it out for the correct 3.2 housing. You can see some details here.

But looking at the photos, it looks like the transfer tube comes out of the top of the WP housing which is separate from the cover. In that case the rear housing portion should be the same - since mine has a 3.0 rear housing and a 3.2 front cover.

Good luck and keep us posted on the results.

I was going to go thermostat cover shopping at my local U Pick yard today but it is snowing like crazy here. I'm going to see if I can find a 90 degree cover to use as a starting point.
