so while I was working on my front suspension ive noticed that my waterpump is dripping down onto the typical crank sensor. Is there a way I can rebuild the water pump myself? What usually fails that causes the dripping?

I have taken a water pump apart and the seals and weird bearing inside is going to be very very hard to find. Best to just buy one. And after looking at the water pump apart it is the mechanical type seal that fails its right behind the impeller.

They're not that expensive, either. When I do water pumps, I usually replace the coolant pipe o-rings, the water pump housing to block o-ring, the thermostat, and any thing else coolant related that looks like it might be jealous.

Here's part numbers

FEL-PRO Part # ES70426 Water Crossover Mounting Set 10.08
or better yet: FEL-PRO Part # ES70425 Water Pump Mounting Set 5.05
A-1 CARDONE Part # 571373 Reman. Water pump; Includes Gasket 50.79

Those are from rockauto.com

There's even a discount. See the sticky at the top of this section.

You also have the option of going with a brand new water pump for ~$150 from AZ. They are made by Asian Parts Mfg., the same Japanese company that built the original, and sold in a Duralast box. They include a new pulley. IMO, you get what you pay for.
