No wonder the local city PD bought and went away quickly from this platform. Those things were new and then nowhere to be seen in service quickly here.

It's hard to beat the CVPI for maintenance but most departments dropped the Interceptor Sedan in favor of an SUV. The Chargers are not super reliable. By me they still use the sedans but most newer patrol vehicles are Explorers and Tahoes with the county, seem to be more explorers for Sheriff's and State Police. They have a ton of different vehicles by me though, still some CVPIs around, F250s, unmarked Impalas, even an 03 Cobra full livery highway car.

So final verdict.....

They felt the chain had stretched a bit so I had them do it as well since it was open and cheap.

Be sure to use a quality full synthetic oil from now on, such as Redline, Amsoil, Royal Purple HPS, Pennzoil Ultra Platinum, etc. Avoid synblends like the plague, especially ones with low antiwear additives.

I have not found any useful VOA or UOA data on these oils, will keep looking.

What is your typical driving cycle? Highway, mixed, city only ...? How many miles do you put on and how often do you change the oil. Highly recommend following engine hours appropriate to the driving conditions, rather than mileage/time for best results. 200 for highway, 150 for mixed, and 100 for city. Do a UOA, see how the engine responds, and adjust if need be. If you do the UOA, please post here. :D

Mostly short jaunts under 20 mins. Combination highway/ City = 65/35
Averaging about 15000kms/yr. (My Buell 1125CR 'Betty' gets seat time in summer. ;) )
Oil changes every 8000kms or so.

For the time thing If I follow what you're saying then my time based oil change would be every 30-34 weeks or 7 ish months, which falls in line of my 800okms. :D

Oil is popular in Europe and the only VOA's I have seen are in Russian. I'll try to dig into it a bit more as well.

Quartz INEO Long Life 5W30

Total 5W30 Quartz Ineo LongLife Engine Oil Cleanliness Test

How does the test work?
The same amount of oil was 3x heated up to 250 ° C with a stream of hot air at 550 ° C. The oil sample is always at the same distance from the heater. The temperature of the oil is measured by a professional standard laboratory thermometer.

Why do I heat the oil to such a high temperature?
I want to show the limit possibilities of oil, where the oil loses its properties, and oil begins to precipitate pollution and settle on the walls of the engine. It is similar temperature to that prevailing in the engine, e.g. in the upper part of the piston. The fact that the temperature sensor in the engine shows 90 ° C does not mean that the entire engine has the same temperature. #total #totalineo #totallonglife

How to assess the oil condition after the test?
10 - very good 1 - poorly I will give only one value. I take into account the degree of oil blackening and the amount of contamination on the walls of the tube. The blacker the oil, the stronger the smell of burning.

Score: 5.5 / 10

Interesting vid.

When you read through his testing charts it does very well. Better than some that he ranked higher with worse physical test?

Definitely a good oil based on the tests he did. I still like to have an "objective" baseline such as a Blackstone analysis, but a quick, visual test like this can be pretty handy.

This YT video

Some of the TOTAL product line in there.

No idea how predictive this is in actual engine use, but thought I would post it anyway.

Go to translate.google.com, enter in the website url in the lefthand box, click on the translation in the righthand box (choice of languages), voila! :D

Perhaps I`m wrong but I was looking more at what oils coated the glass.

I want my oil sticking to the things it`s protecting to create a layer right?

The dark stuff sticking tells me it's not doing a good job keeping crap off things?
