I notice that about a day after a rain, opening and then closing the front windows will bring up water droplets on the outside of the the two front door windows . Eventually they open and close dry in time.

In every other car I've owned the windows are dry when you open and close them after a rain . I'm concerned they're not sealed and damaging water or condensation is remaining inside the door .

The fact that both windows exhibit this behavior suggests it's normal but what do you experience?

Is there water in the doors because the drains are clogged?

In my 2013, the rear doors would literally flood with water. I could hear it sloshing around while driving. Pulling away the weather strip at the bottom of the door would allow at least a gallon of water to run out after a heavy rain storm. I never bothered to do anything about it.

My 2016 is a little better, but after a heavy rain, you can see a LOT of water has come out that drain.

I know you're talking about the front windows, but it's worth a check.

My brandy-new 2013 rear doors would fill with water because the weatherstrip was blocking the drains.

The door window seals are not meant to be 100% water tight. There is a drain on the bottom of the door toward the back edge. It is under the weather strip on bottom of the door so you have to sort of fold the weather strip back to see it. When I wash my car I always check the drains in each door to make sure they not blocked. But I would not be too concerned about moisture on the outside of the window. That does not sound like a problem to me. It is just the fuzzy weather stripping holding water for a while after a rain. It will dry out.

That's nuts. How could they possibly engineer that and still have it in 2016 . I better check to make sure. Thanks .

Most cars have drain holes on the bottom of the doors. Ours may let more in. But I have never heard water sloshing inside the doors of my 2015 even after record rainfall in Sept-Oct.

Nothing coming out from the bottom. I guess it's just Ford's less than stellar engineering and assembly for the windows to be the way they are .

I work in a detail shop in Indy.... when we are done detailing cars, they are pulled out front and the windows are left cracked open on a sunny day to help moisture evaporate from the interior... no matter what the car is, when we roll them up there is water on the outside of the window. Unfortunately, the strip on the outside is not a smooth rubber squeegee for most cars. It is more of a felt lined strip designed to remove enough so that you can see out of it. Not just a Ford thing though.

It's not just Ford most if not all car have drains as the top seal is never 100%. I have seen and have had 2 cars that the drains clogged and water built up in the door, my SHO and a Nissan Altima.

I can't think of a car I've had in the last 25 years to experience that. Mind you they've been Honda's and Toyota's which probably explains it .

That explains alot. North American mfgs have been playing quality catch up for decades now. Legacy labor contracts eat up a ton of resources.

well here we are - I heard water sloshing around in the back this am - thought it was because it was low on fuel - after filling up with our good 94 octane fuel ( chevron - Canada) still sloshing sound- thought it was spare wheel tub - nope - trunk lid? nope - then checked the doors - yup! rear pass door - guess some crud blocked the oval drains - lifted the rubber flap and ran my finger along length of door - woosh ! wack of foul water poured out . hooray! 175KMS -( 105K miles) and runs like a dream !

Hey, at least my old SHO has something in common with yours. I have to check the drain holes at the bottom of the doors every now and too!

hi again - thought at first it was leaking thru my rear tail lights - I had removed all four to do the sand and paint the crap chrome area satin black- relieved it was just the lower drains.

At least you found it before any real corrosion was visible. I'd probably dig in there when the weather was warm and take a look around and maybe spray some rust inhibiter very carefully. I wonder how long it was holding moisture before you actually noticed. At least you found it and drained it.

yes you're right - never heard the slosh till this am - had a big rain last nite - could have filled to the point where the water actually made a noise - that seal lays right against the seam of the door . i'd say it actually inhibits drainage. maybe make a couple relief cuts where seal overlaps the oval drain opening. just a little notch should do it. looks to be a double layer of seal

Every vehicle I've owned has had water on the windows rolling up and down after car wash or rain from Audi to Pontiac, from Chevy to Porsche and everything in between.
It's a very common thing and they all probably share the same materials and design.
Now the drains on the other hand..
