I had my 2014 SHO in to the shop because apparently the fuel pump driver module went out, which I understand is behind the rear seat (and not in the engine compartment). Today, a few days later, I noticed a lot of water dripping in the rear of the engine compartment. I put it up on ramps and saw that it's coming from what looks like a drain tube that's horizontal and points forward towards the engine compartment. I haven't been able to find out what this tube is supposed to drain. It could be an AC drain, but I haven't used the AC in over a week, and I didn't notice this before today. I only noticed it when I got home from work, and maybe 3 ounces of water have dripped out since then. The vehicle appears to be running fine.

I also noticed today that there was water dripping from the bottom of the rear driver side door, and when I squeezed the rubber at the bottom of the door, 5ish ounces of water came out of the rubber. Apparently that's from the moon roof, and we've had rain here lately so that's a little surprising, but might be unrelated to the water dripping in the engine compartment. I'm not too worried about that, just mentioning it in case it's related.

Any ideas what's going on, or what that tube is?

Thanks.

Is that tube on the firewall? If so, I bet it's the AC drain. When it rains, water WILL get into the AC box. The drain will let it drain out.

The water from the door, was it inside the door, and when you moved the weatherstrip, it suddenly drained? That's another issue with these cars - for some reason, the weather strip is right at the door drains and can stick to the paint and keep water in the door. I've had it happen to the rear doors, not the fronts, though.

The sunroof drains go down the "A" pillar, I thought.

It is coming out of the firewall towards the engine. At first I didn't think it would be the AC, because I never use the AC, but I don't know what other obvious drain hose would drain water.

The water from the door didn't come out until I was parked on the side of the street on the right side, so the car was angled where the driver's side was higher than the passenger side, and thinking about it now I guess it wasn't until I opened the rear door. The water was on the rear door on the driver side, and was stuck behind/in the weatherstripping, so that sounds the same as what you experienced.

Does the defrost have anything to do with the AC drain tube? I thought the defrost only changed the vents that the air came from, but I have the defrost vents activated almost all the time, so maybe that's causing the AC drain tube to drip?

The defroster does use the AC - it dries the air, so it immediately clears the windshield. And these days, they might cycle the AC compressor just "because" - it keeps the seals nice and pliable ;)

Ah, that makes sense, I guess I won't worry about it. Thanks for your help!

Did you wash the car recently? Washed mine today, pulled it in the garage, then let it sit for a few hours while I sealed the paint. Backed it out to make sure I pulled all the sealant off and had a small puddle of water on the ground rear of the engine. Didn't run the A/C at all. I think it's normal. Water from the cowl area or the misc. drains on the body of the vehicle.
