Hi SHO family. Any advice on how to best "leverage" the usage of a purchased extended warranty? Or to rephrase, how can you make sure you get your money's worth for buying an extended warranty? I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences you may have. Thank you!

Well depending on miles you should get a water pump. But tbh no one will fix a car that running properly and no signs of issues. So not getting your ask.

Understand that after market "Warranties" are actually "Service Contracts". Two different things so read what's included and what's not included VERY carefully!

Listen to what kyrptto posted above. Nothing will be repaired/replaced unless the car has a problem so forget getting any preventive stuff done just because it is a well known failure item.

What I do and did with my 2013 MKS was get on a knowledgeable forum for your model of car such as the one we are currently on. Next I read and read and read some more! BEFORE I purchase anything!

You will soon see what the common problems are and what to watch out for. Another trick or suggestion depending on your point of view is to understand (At least at a dealership) that certain things will be repaired if you describe the problem properly. Example; I usually tell them I smell coolant as that then forces them to check the cooling system and look for leaks.

We have all seen the multiple useless threads with titles like Help! My car is running bad and so on. These have zero value and are just time wasters. Use titles that describe your problem. Next you must get the codes the car has. Can't believe the number of people who start replacing parts because they think or saw some retard on YouTube blathering about garbage so they can be a star!

In the end no one cares more about your car than you. I always promote DIY as I was forced into it because of the lack of service I ran into with different shops.
