I was looking over my warranty, which will expire at the end of the year (108K miles). MacPherson struts are covered.
How would struts be deemed "bad", and in need of replacement, especially by a warranty company?

Most likely you would need an ASE certified mechanic to diagnose it. I'm not sure if any shop could do it, or if it would have to go through a Ford dealer.

OK, but what makes a strut worthy of FREE replacement? Is it solely the ASE/ Ford mechanic's discretion?

Does your car bounce around, remove the fuse that controls the SARC and you will have a very tight sportscar ride.

Yes, I have installed a SARC switch. The rear struts are not even phased by it. No bounce at all. The front gets a little tighter...

This is just an educated guess but.. yes I believe if a certified tech states they are out of normal operating specs they would be eligible.

How long until the warranty runs out? I can call a friend of mine that is/has been a Ford and now Jag tech to confirm. I just need to wait until after the weekend since he races his Mustang in Renegade or Outlaw classes on weekends.

Easiest way is if they are leaking, which is a dead-giveaway. Anything else is going to be pretty subjective.
