Hello everyone, I have a question: will the mounting places of the Vulcan engine and the SHO gearbox (second generation Taurus, manual transmission) fit, or will an adapter plate be needed?

Admittedly its been a long time, but my memory is that the bell housing pattern on the SHO and the Vulcan are the same.
I seem to remember the same thing, and wikipedia has not been changed by the Mandela Effect (yet): The 3L Vulcan and the 3L SHO seem to have the same bell housing pattern.

Agreed, the Yamaha engineers started with the Vulcan 3.0 (they eventually had to redeeisn all the block and internals). The bolt pattern is the same, there are some other related common parts (rear main seal, flywheel/flexplate to crankshaft bolt pattern).
