VSS location ? and colours? need help!!

i am installing an alpine navigation system in my car which requires a signal from the VSS sensor! i have tried the 3 wires that come off the cruise control module and i have tried the 2 wires that go into a sensor located on my speedo cable! ( is this not the vss sensor?) i am wondering if i have to go to the computer instead? what are the 2 wires on the sensor and the colours? i own a 1990 SHO . i believe one is vss+ and the vss- please corect me if i am wrong and if anyone else has any info on this i would apprieciatte it! thanks!

maybe to disable navigation when your moving?? lawyers get their hands in everything anymore.
