Brought the car to my shop to balance the tires and do a few other things and noticed the noise as I was pulling out. Sounded like it was coming from the timing cover area but I couldn't really be sure. It is definitely coming from the top end and it doesn't sound like it's coming from the timing chain area. I started pulling it apart then realized I had no other cars at my shop that I could drive home lol giay da nam.

Going to pull the timing covers and valve covers this week just curious what you guys think.

(I'm still a noob) But, It kinda sounds like rubber rubbing on something i.e. a timing belt. But I'm probably way off.......haha

Timing belt tensioner? Would be my first guess on an ATX.

I thought that at first too but I pulled the cover and ran the car and the belt is nice and tight. I have a feeling one of the cam journals is loose giay cong so nam. I did the valve stem seals a few years ago and I didn't torque them to spec because every time I tried they stripped out so I torqued them by feel.

Timing chain tensioners, underneath the valve covers.

Let's hope it's not a cam cap.

Pulled the front of the motor apart and the tensioner failed chup anh sen ** tay. Ordering a new one tonight and new timing belt and she should be as good as new. I guess that's what I get for using a used tensioner last year while doing the front 60k.
