Ok. As I've never looked at the PTU, you are saying the fill plug is on all PTUs?

All PTUs have a fill plug. On the PP the plug is replaced with a temp sender. The heat shield for the sender wiring makes access impossible without removing the cat. Those are more easily filled thru the vent hose.

So I've finally gotten around to messing with this. I can't see any possible way to get to the fill plug from below or on top. I have extended the vent hose up to above the battery. My extraction pump (syringe) has pulled exactly nothing from the PTU. It is too hot today, so I think I'm going to button it up for the moment. That vent hose is pretty much by feel, btw.

Where is the fill plug located on the PTU? Driver side or passenger side? I simply couldn't even see it, but maybe I was looking in the wrong location?

I'll be damned... I never even looked on the passenger side of the PTU. I guess I know what I'm doing tomorrow

I figured that out. It's going to be cooler this weekend so I'll knock it out then. I do have an extended vent hose now, though.

It’s easy enough to suck out from the fill cap if you’re non PP. Just have a good collection of 3/8 extensions. But yes, the drill and tap makes it far less work.

Yes, I know. Just accessing the damned plug is a nightmare. Both of my 3/8 ratchets have swivel heads that would not stay flat and the 1/2 drive with the 3/8 adapter was too tall to fit. I'll screw with it again later this week.

Take the tire off and go in from the wheel well. Straight shot with like two 10” extensions.

Thank you for the suggestion. I was largely following TechMakuloco's video and I think he was actually working on an Explorer or Flex.
