vibration in steering wheel

A couple of weeks ago I ran over a curb in a snowstorm with my drivers side front wheel. Blew out the tire.

The shop said the inner tie rod on the passenger side was bent, so I replaced it and took it back for a front end alignment. Now, at 70mph, I can feel the wheel vibrating in my hand.

What causes a high speed vibration like this?

What/how do I check for what is wrong? I feel a little guilty getting the shop to tell me what is wrong, then doing the work myself.

What else do I need to replace or could it be a bad alignment job?

Most wheel vibration is usually a balance issue.

+3. 90% of the time they put the wheel weight on wrong... or it fell off.

Or were lazy and did not have the right weight and put a smaller one on, seen that one too many times when I worked for my dad.

lazy bastids. make sure they torqued your lug nuts tight enough. I've seen too many wheels fall off 1000 miles down the road...

Ha 1000 miles, my In laws went a 100 yards down the street and the wheel fell off. They sued and won, it was one of those rinky **** hill billy garages.

also, if you hit hard enough to blow out a tire, you might have a bent rim...you may want to have them check for that after you have it rebalanced...possibly do a road force on it to make sure you got a good tire, as sometimes you can get a crappy tire even with a nice name on it.
