SLO 4 SHO
I'm preparing to mount an 8" driver in the factory sub box. This is a pretty beefy sub for an 8", best of all it only costs around $50 shipped.

I've been playing around with WinISD, a freeware enclosure design program, to come up with a suitable box design. It looks like this speaker likes to live in a ported enclosure (~10 liters), a bit smaller than the JBL factory sub box (12 liters).
Anyway, tuning the box for this driver can be achieved with either of the following port configurations:
A) one 1.5" PVC port, 8.5" long
B) two 1" PVC ports, 7" long each
For either of these port arrangements, it would be easiest fabricate with straight ports aimed out the side of the box. I could have them directed out the top of the box, same as the driver, but that would require using an elbow to get the required length.
I'm planning on sealing between the top of the sub box and the rear deck. The big question I have is: which port alignment is going to sound the best? Pointed up, firing directly into the cabin, or firing out the side of the sub box into the trunk?
Thanks for any input!
Nathan
