Well I purchased valve cover gaskets from Ford a while back only to discover that they don't include the well seals. So my question is--can I avoid purchasing a set with both included and simply use some type of sealant to suffice for the plug well seal?

Not only NO, but **** NO!! When i did mine it looked like someone did a quick fix and just put black sealant on it and it didnt work. See if the Ford dealer will take them back..If they do go to a parts store and get the Fl-Pro set, it comes with the seals. If the dealer wont, see if they sell the seals seperate. Im not saying im an expert on SHO's, but its not fun doing all that work and a couple of days or weeks later you have to pull it apart again. Like they saying goes" If you dont have time to fix it right the first time, when will you have time to fix it right the second time" Good luck and i hope it helps. :thumb:

Yeah thanks for the input! I figure I would have to purchase the felpro set! Note: you never want to purchase the seals at Ford! They are sold separate for $25each!

That's no joke, my friend. In fact, I'll encourage you to call up Ford for yourself, just to get a kick out of it. I really wonder if there is some type of networking era in Fords database regarding the pricing of their plug well seals--and Ford parts for that matter. I called three different Ford locations just to make sure I was hearing the price for them. I have no choice but to go with the felpro set.

Well sorry to hear it. Im glad your doing it right. Cause i tell ya, whoever did it to mine caked sealant on the old seals and man that stuff was all over. Had to scrape it all off, it was a mess. I was kinda scared to take on the task cause it looked so hard to do but ive never worked on a SHO,but once you have the intake off, its not to bad. Good Luck

Yeah, Dig. Buy the Fel-Pro VS50378R set at autozone.com for about $72, and if the dealer won't take the other set back, sell them on Ebay.
