VAPS Questions

Anyone know where the power assist section of the system is located? Is it in the steering box? What are the chances of it going out? Would the power steering pump fail before that part of the system?

The VAPS motor is mounted to the top of the rack (input gearbox part.)

As far as your outher questions, dunno.

Do you have symptoms? I just started getting a weird PS pump problem. for the first 30 deg. of wheel turn it's normal, and then it gets hard, fast (like the pump dies).

Mine does it the same and I hear a moaning sound from the drivers side of the car. I already did a flush and it didn't help. Maybe my pump is going. I'm replacing it next week (got a used one cheap) and hopefully that will solve the problem. But with my luck it's probably the VAPS that's wearing out.
