This stuff is pure nectar!!
I've tried many of the synthetic fluids (Mobile 1, GM Syncromesh, Redline, Royal Purple) and while they are all very good initially, after about 100 miles of hard driving they seem to lose their smooth shifting qualities, especially at high rpm 1st->2nd gear shifts.
I put in the Valvoline Dex/Merc ATF and noticed a huge difference right away - very, very smooth shifting, almost effortless, even at 8000 rpm 1st->2nd gear shifts. This stuffs been in the car now for about 300 miles and it just seems to get smoother with time.
I tried it in one of my other SHO's, and the result was identical. (Trannies have Quaife, new synchros, and fairly new fiber-lined blocking rings.)
This is a conventional, non-synthetic ATF fluid, and at $3.09/quart the price is right!!
As with any ATF fluid in the MTX SHO, YMMV. :type: :type: :type:
