The used head I have has got all the intake valves pretty tight.

The spec is .006-.010"

cyl 1 a .004, b .0025
cyl 2 a .006, b .005
cyl 3 a .005, b .004
cyl 4 a .005, b. 003

I assume the numbers get smaller on a warm engine.

For some history this is a used head that I put my cam into. The shims and caps came form the used head.

Does this mean my OEM cam is a high lift cam??? :naughty:

Just what are the effects of such a close setting, or wide one for that matter?

How much effect does not having the head torqued on the block on your readings?

Well it is torqued to the block. What I am finding out is the very tight ones, < .003" are next to impossible to get out with the tools, at least for me. I loosened the cam up then used a very small nut driver to push down on the bucket after popping the shim loose.

Still have one to get out grrrr

Well I got the one intake cam all withing spec. They are either .006" or .007".

But as long as I have a whole shim kit from the Kirkster in my possession may as well do all the rest. So hopefully tomorrow I can say it is finally ready to go, until I find another problem....

Speaking of which last time I checked my WBO2 was not working properly. :(
