So I've had problems with the brakes on my 2010 Taurus for a long time. I wrote a thread about upgrading to a 2013 system. I'm noticed that while on boost when I go for the brakes There aren't any. I'm thinking whatever vacuum canister or check valve is not working correctly. Does anyone have information on this vacuum system on a boost car.

Just a point of interest: I had a Nova with a really built LT-1. Had a too-big cam with a ton of overlap. It had crap for vacuum at idle, and the brakes really suffered for that. If it was driving at more than, dunno, 1500-2000 rpm, the vacuum was adequate to help, but had to be really careful when parking!

I never had a problem running any cam in my '70 429 Torino Cobra. Oh, yeah, it had manual drum brakes on all four corners. That's the way DRAG RACE CARS were built in the day. Power brakes are for grocery getters!

That is the whole vacuum system. I would check for vacuum readings before just throwing parts at it.

Sure, why would you want to slow down? :burnout: My autocross buddies say I use the brakes too much there too.

I don't know if I knew enough about the brake booster but I do know it didn't work well at idle, and I just don't like inconsistent brakes. :eeeeeek: I didn't build the Nova that way, the SS350 was the car of choice for me but that ape-shit motor was what the previous owner had built and the cars were too rare to pass it up. I wanted it as a nicely balanced daily driver, not a dragster like he wanted. If I coulda gotten the motor trade done for a nice eco-cam SBC I might still have that car. But I traded it in to a dealer so wouldn't have to worry about the non-existent smog gear, which had all been taken off by drag-boy, who got a mechanic buddy to give me a smog certificate that was pure science fiction.
