I agree with that Eric.
My SHO's currently without the football, glove box, or panel below steering column, all as a result of restorative projects and a couple lighting upgrades (for which it is getting more and more difficult to find the time to complete). The window tint and weather stripping need replaced (minor water leak at front passenger door), as do both front door lock switches and mirror adjustment switch. I have a fairly regular miss. I thought I'd resolved the p0455 but it's back and I can't find the source of gross evap leak (letting it ride for now). Plus the FL heat is decimating my interior plastic since there is minimal shade where I work and can't park in garage at home. I'm currently on original suspension, but must admit that I just bought 3 front koni inserts from shoforum member zak; 2 used in housings and 1 new uninstalled.
But most of these items take a back seat to the long term maintenance of the motor. By dumping the butterfly shaft, I'm hoping to simplify future intake cleanings. Without a proper catch can, I can expect it to get gummed up over and over again, especially with additional material in the way, and be harder to clean. Even with a catch can, why keep it there wired open? Seems prudent just to get in and get it out. If this gets me a benefit in even a small range of the power band, I'll take it, but that's not the driving force.
I think you'd agree that shifting from a performance focus to a regular maintenance and restorative focus is the most logical course for these cars. That's my position, and throwing in a few exterior perks and cosmetics will only enhance the appreciating novelty of the Gen3 sho.
Yes, getting pwned by minivans or old beat up trucks does suck, and as for the v8sho e-mail . . . hehehe. Getting kicked out of there once was enough for me.
