First off, get the cams welded....do that before ANYthing....

after that's done, remove the saxocone (silencer tube for the intake in the fenderwell), get some mufflers and let that V8 sing...then take a gander over on www.v8sho.com for more ideas.....

There aren't alot of easy HP-increasing mods to do on these cars that don't involve either alot of money or alot of time/patience/fabrication skills.

I would suggest:

-UDP
-Exhaust
-Programming, an SCT Tuner from nesho.com or fordspecialists.com
-Some sort of cheap cold air induction system, like the "Porterized" setup.

You could probably spend about ~$1000 on all this stuff, and be into the high 14's.

hobo how much did your tranny cost with all the upgrades it has? I know my Tc is on its way out, and I'll need a new tranny sometime. You can PM me if you dont want to post here. Thanks

No pre made cold air kits for the car. You have to make your own. I was getting the parts together but aborted it. Cost was at least $250 for a 4" cone filter in the fender with silicone hose in the engine compartment. Let me know if you are interested.

whats the saxacone, you said it was the thing in the inner fender, why would i take that out isnt that like a half assed ram air?

You might want to look around a bit at all the data and articles over on V8SHO.com, as it has a lot on this sort of thing there. I recall an article that had air movement figures and it showed pretty clearly that the sax ended up restrictive, rather than as any form of real forced air.

The simplest system to get cold air in quantity to your motor is some form of 'Porterization'. You will be able to find various descriptions including photos and such at the V8 site. I did mine with just a single chunk of 4" diameter rad hose and did not have to move the air box or any of the other manipulations that some of the other systems seem to require. It was fast and easy. I think I have a photo around somewhere. If you want me to email it to you, let me know.

I just emailed to you the location where I have a copy of the photo, on Photobucket. Just in case, here it is again:

If you need a bigger version, let me know and I will try to find it in my photo files, somewhere, but I did not see it immediately, so I may not have kept it in another location.

The rad clamp is there only for looks, by the way. The actual connection holing the hose to the air box inlet is done with 3 small stainless steel screws. I had to do a touch of careful trim work to get the hose to fit well, as you have to notch it out for the corner of the airbox, but it was not hard, just requiring care. This went in within a few weeks of getting the car, so it has been there without problems for getting on 6 years now.

Cone filter where air box was at sucks hot air from the engine compartment. Just get a K&N panel filter and do the porter mod. I FINALLY got around to doin it a month ago.

Sounds pretty good. Not as eerie as without any snorkel coming out of the box though... :oogle:

You do not want to suck hot air from the engine compartment. The rig that MotorMouth showed is set up so that the cone is in the wheel well gap, which is the same place just running a tube from the air box to the inner well goes, but without trying to put the filter on the end. As noted just above, you get the same, or a better since it is simpler, effect by just putting a good filter in the airbox and running some form or 'porterized' intake pipe to the wheel well. A lot cheaper too, and less likely to come apart in there.

I second the Porter mod. Very good step by step documentation and the price is right too! Wish I would have done it 100k miles ago!

what i did was i took the filter box out, took the whole saxacone thing out, put a cone filter on and ran some flex pipe through the saxacone path to the front, for kind of a ram air set up, i just need to make a backing plate and kind of heat sheild for the cone.
