i know the coils are common to go,unplugging the fronts really did nothing for determing anything. i pulled the front plugs and the far right and far left were much more black than the rest...so i changed all 8 plugs. i also checked the resistance on them, and they were all around 0.8-1.0. i didnt bother w/the heating/cooling test b/c it runs like crap from the second you turn it on. i'm not even sure you can call it a misfire,it just feels/sounds like its running on 6 cyls at all time. any help would really be appriciated.
p.s. yes i put the coils from the back in the front and trying the unplug test and still nothing.....

Drive the **** out of it.

Do that until the coil failes.

Or buy 8 new coils.

I've never been a fan of the back-to-front thing, didn't see much point. For the effort involved, I'd grab a set of the coils off eBay and just put new ones on.

Does sound coil related though if you have good resistance.

Long way to fix it is to buy 1 new coil and swap it around until you find the one that was about shot.

yeah, cams were welded by nesho. okay, quick question. i put new plugs in yesterday for the drive home(170miles) pulled the front plugs today b/c thats were i suspect the miss is coming from. two of the plugs had a light coating of black soot and the white insulation part was still white, two of the other plugs had no soot and were kinda gas smelling and the white insulation was tinted kind of brown'ish. so should i assume those two are the weak coils?

okay, update on the last post,i removed the rear plugs and all four are still clean,so the tally is:
6 clean plugs
2 plugs are slightly brownish and have a "wet" appearance although they're dry

Looks like you might have 2 bad COPs. I'm no expert on V8s but I think you're right in that there's no spark going to those two plugs, and I think the brown is from fuel soak...

Problem #1, it has Bosch spark plugs in it. Address that first.

yeah, not my plug of choice. the guy i bought it from had them in the trunk so we put them in. i planned on putting in some motorcraft plugs when i get new coils

You wouldnt believe the driveablility problems we see with those plugs. I was hoping not to come across as a smart-ass there, and I apologize if I did.

We see numerous P0300's with those plugs, along with complaints of misfires felt. Everytime I see an OBDII car with them I tell the owner what to expect.....

nope,i know how you meant to come across. in my svt contour i had nothing but problems w/them. but i was 180 miles from home and no parts stores in sight,so i put them in. so do you rec. the autolite DP or stick w/motorcraft?

I drove with my Bosch plugs for 20k miles and they were great.

I've got copper plugs in with about 10k now and need to change them out and clean out the intake.

Bosch coppers or Bosch platinums? The platinums are a problem :thumb: Some have mixed results, though most I've seen are negative.
