I guess it depends on how far you are going into the disassembly. If you are going down to the block it's all fairly straight forward.

He meens it rotated with the crank (spun).

Until you have checked all four cams, your not out of the woods.

My rear exhaust cam was the only one spun, after removal it would spin on the shaft freely. This bent all eight exhaust valves on that bank.

I replaced the heads and cams with ones that were welded.

Replacing/removing the heads pretty much requires removal of the engine/drivetrain.

On another forum, he mentioned that the dealership told him the car would run for a while and then stop. He has not run it, though. He was told that means his cam is out of time, and that he has to replace eight intake valves at least, and that he might want to get a replacement cam from ebay rather than try to restore timing to the damaged cam.

I bought A cd on ebay for the 97 production year and it has everything you need to tear down the motor and rebuild it. It has done me well in that department, I acctually have mine down to the block right now.

It is copyrighted, obviously, but I don't know if anyone would be willing to copy it and send it over. I bought mine for $10 on eBay.. it's well worth it.

Ask SHOZ123, support the locals first I say. Thanks to ebay though I got the ford OEM 3.4L repair tool kit, and the dealer repair manual.
