Hey, Ive been reading a lot more about tranny coolers and the need for them in our cars...upgraded ones i mean. Well what is the best ones you've found? Does the FMS one come as a kit? Im looking at gettin a full kit with EVERYTHING i need and maybe some instructions... Any help would be great! Thanks! :thumb:

do a search for tranny coolers lots of threads about them. The most popular is probably the B&M one, about 50 bucks on summit. Easy to install. Theres even a thread with a link to a page that has tremendous step by step instructions and pictures.

take care

OKay i did and Im just not understanding where to put it at...everyone is saying to lay it horizantal on the splash shield. Do we just remove the splash shield and install it or do we keep the splash shield and somehow install it under it? I guess i may just be tired or something cause im not understanding this at all.... btw this is what post i read...

FPS in Georgia sell the kit (w/ instructions) and Doug IS the mad tranny scientist of the sho
Unfortunately it is a bit more pricey than the B&M's at ~$160 or so IIRC. It bypasses the cooling through the radiator, replaces the existing cooler and lines, and comes with a t-stat, as well as directions (this is all assuming my mind serves me correctly :bonk: )
I believe the common location for the B&M is horizontally on the splash shield. Paul Nimz (SHOZ123) posted a pic. of his in a thread a while back.

How would you mount this to the splash shield and where would you run the lines through to the existing tranny cooler(s). FPS sells a kit that replaces your stock coolers, but my question is wouldnt you want to keep those and just add to them?

Just get a B&M "super cooler" I think mine imeasures 8x11x1.5 which was about $80 and they make a 11x11x1.5 for about $100 BUt I don't think the extra $20 it worth it. And 8x11x1.5 is about one of the largest you'll find. MOst tranny coolers come with the fitting (*******) to attatch the hoses to the exsisting tranny cooler. But this one deosn't. You'll have to buy them at a local autoi store along with the coolant lines. All together it should be about $100.
As for location, I put mine right in the middel of the grill. I took out the ford emblem and spears, to make more room for cool air to get in their.

In this pic you can see in my dark green 98 the aluminum cooler in the middle of the grill. That is where my B&M is on my red 98. BUt since the B&M comes painted black, you probably can't see it in their.
