I guess we're gonna see how Ford handles this situation huh? Good luck with it and keep us posted. Sucks to see that you are over the car now, but you have very legitimate reasons. Hopefully Ford makes it right for ya.

It's back. Accelerating from a traffic light today, under normal conditions, and POW! Car abruptly stops accelerating... guy behind me almost rear ends me, all ****** off... and my car isn't moving. This is unsafe. I plan to make yet another call to Ford in the morning. I'm done with this car.

That issue is one I wouldn't ever fool around with. I would bring it right back to the dealer and leave the keys. And tell them Ford can contact you directly to find out where to make payment or settle the existing loan.

How come no one has brought up the Lemon Law? You've obviously been sold a Lemon and it is the dealership's responsibility to either 100% fix it or replace it with one that meets the correct standards of quality, safety, reliability, and performance.

Umm, the quote directly above you is referring directly to it...as has almost every post in this thread and the original thread...

I feel your pain.

I am having a very similar problem with my brand new SHO (3500 miles). I got it in November and around January I felt a loss of power on the highway and it would intermittently jam up upon acceleration. I was in a couple of situations that were not good. I spoke to the dealer a few times and brought it in and they couldn't find anything.

Two weeks ago I was in another state, felt a loss of power and a wrench symbol showed up on my dash (transmission or powertrain failure). I slowed down off the highway - it would not accelerate over 10 mph.

I took it in to the dealer again and since the wrench showed up they were able to see what was going on. I was told I need a new throttle position sensor. The part has been backordered - my car has been sitting in the shop now for 2 weeks now. I have a rental car for another week or more. Really upset about the whole thing.

That is interesting, the throttle position sensor was the first thing I thought of too, back when this first started happening. I do believe the transmission range sensor was faulty as well. When mine would go into "limp mode" my wife noticed that my reverse lights were turning on and off, as she was driving behind me. Who knows really...

Ford Customer Care called back, and my car is scheduled to be dropped off at the dealer for the WEEK so they can drive it around and try to duplicate the problem. They are providing me with a rental car. I just don't understand why they need to duplicate the problem. It is going in and out of limp mode. That is pretty clear. So they will drive it around for a week and maybe just maybe it will happen to them... and then what. We are back to... It's going in and out of limp mode... what do we do now. Seems like a complete waste of time to me. These problems are frustrating and very difficult to diagnose. I get that. Especially when there are no codes being thrown.

The bottom line... I have never loved a car and hated a car so much.

Crap. Now I'm nervous. I was getting onto a freeway here today and I switched lanes to pass someone. As I did so someone began to get over. I let off the gas to let them in then they decided to stay in their lane. I then attempted to get past them so they could get over behind me but as I accelerated it stalled for 2-3 seconds before it began to go. Hopefully I'm not experiencing the beginning of a similar issue. I as well just passed 3,500miles.

I know! I'm having the same relationship with my car! ;)

They said they same thing to me - can I duplicate the problem. If that wrench didn't show up on my dashboard -I would still be driving around with the problem that they "could not find!"

I hope you get your problem solved once and for all...I'm nervous now that its not going to be fixed. I am thinking about forking over MORE money for the extended warranty!!

Dropped off the car this morning. They plan to keep it most of the week, so someone can "verify" the issue. I just don't get it. Once its verified... they will STILL have to figure out whats causing it.

Oh and this time, Ford paid for a rental car.

Its a guessing game....

Update on my car: the throttle position sensor still has not arrived at the dealer - backorderd again until July 8th. That is the estimated arrival at the warehouse - not the shipping date.

I am on the 4th week of driving a rental. If I wanted a basic Ford Fusion - I would have purchased one!! Grrrr........

Update... again. Tomorrow begins week 3 of not having my car. The dealer will be replacing the Transmission Range Sensor again, as well as a speed sensor in the transmission. The parts wont be in until sometime next week. In the meantime, Ford is at least paying for a rental car. Stay tuned.

If you have been without your car for almost a month they should also make your monthly payment for it too.

They should at least put you in a car of equal value if it's going to be gone for that long of a time. As for paying the monthly payment, well, they are giving you a loaner to help compensate some, but then it all goes back to my first sentence. Can you imagine buying a GT500KR and then being put it in a damn Fusion while it's getting worked on. That would suck BIG time!

Have you attempted to lemon it?

This is what I found for CT:
4 repair attempts or 30 calendar days out of service.

Lotus,

I have to ask as I'm also having a similar sounding issue.

Is your SHO throwing codes when this happens?

Have they tried installing a data recorder? I ask because on mine, it is very random and as far as I know it does not set a code for the dealer.
