How is the stock SHO (atx) suspension set up to handle at the limit?
I narrowly avoided an idiot coming home today, and the old girl really came through in the clutch. On the accident avoidance move, I give my car 9.5 stars out of 10.. The only thing that was iffy was the worn rears squirming a little.
(they used to be the fronts:evilgrin:) This car absolutely handled as good as any
RWD (of it's generation) today. I was going 70 mph (in a 65), and a Miata, coming up the on ramp (slowly), pulls directly in front of me. In the fast lane....
Had to swerve over 2 lanes, then cut back over one lane..I felt the fronts really grab, then the back rotated around perfectly. Caught it
with a flick of the wrist. If I had better tires, it would not have even been nearly
as dramatic.. I am thinking the previous owner went with gen 1 springs/struts.
The ride is VERY firm.. There is almost no understeer at the limit. This would not be the case if it were original gen 2 parts, eh? I would have spun it, no doubt.
If you push down on any fender, it takes a lot of force to do so, and the rebound is very damped.. Maybe P.I. struts/springs? Any body know the police part numbers?
