Underhood Noisemaker?

I've searched here, and on-line but didn't find an answer to my question.

On the passenger side of the engine, the intake tube has a "noisemaker". I understand I can get a different tube from a MKS or Police Interceptor or the aftermarket to remove this noisemaker.

I am assuming that this noisemaker is making the sound that I'd like to eliminate....but don't know exactly what kind of sound it makes.

Does anyone know what the actual sound is that this thing makes?

EDIT: some on-line research tells me that this is a Sound Symposer. Looks like the Police Interceptor or MKS "pipe" for that location does NOT have the symposer. I'm going to look into getting one of these parts and see if it makes a difference. Or, perhaps first, I can just put a plug in the port where the symposer is installed to see if it makes a difference.

An update for those interested. I removed the symposer and placed a cap with clamp over the now open port. Seems to lessen or eliminate the low RPM "throttle-y" noise that I'm hearing. I tried to do a couple back to back tests...but the plug blew off on the second run.

EDIT....seems that part #Aa5z-6f073-c for the turbo PI and MKS will fit...and does not have the symposer port. I ordered one today. There's an aftermarket company that also makes a similar piece out of metal...I hope it's OK to post a link to their part. I watch John's videos and he literally has done everything to his car I want done to mine. I am not sure if he is on here, but he posts some good stuff.

I have heard that it really makes no difference in the sound. At least that is what John Blue say's. It does look nicer with the noise maker removed.

Jeff2017...I suppose I'll find out. There must be a reason the Lincoln doesn't get it...

I did watch John's video earlier...thanks for that. I'd argue that without some load when driving, there wouldn't be much if any difference...

I do have the Noisemaker eliminator from Ecopowerparts and have no complaints about it. Mike was great to work with and very quick on responses. The part is high quality and looks a lot better than the stock piece. The noise difference is minimal, but you can heard the BOV's a little more. I also have an aftermarket CAI, so that probably helps a little too.

I do have the Noisemaker eliminator from Ecopowerparts and have no complaints about it. Mike was great to work with and very quick on responses. The part is high quality and looks a lot better than the stock piece. The noise difference is minimal, but you can heard the BOV's a little more. I also have an aftermarket CAI, so that probably helps a little too.

Well, I picked up the part today and put it in tonight. Then, took the wife for a quick dinner and Walmart. So...did I notice any drastic difference in that driving? No. I'll pay more attention to it next time I drive the car. There's a reason the Lincoln doesn't come with the noisemaker, so at least I'm content in knowing it must make difference...and it looks cleaner underwood without the piece under the hood.

My daughter drives a '13 Ecoboost Flex. Maybe I'll swap parts next time she visits and see if either of us notes a difference. For $150 I expect something for my investment other than looks.

I agree...and that's about what the factory part cost. FWIW, it came with a mass airflow sensor. (Same as was in the car) I'll be glad to hear your thoughts.

My SHO has a "throttle-y" sound at certain lower RPMs that reminds me of the sound you get if you drive a fuel injected car with no intake. I seem to remember a friend's MKS was the same...but I guess I need to drive his to find out.

FYI these cars do not have MAF. I would guess you are referring to the MAP sensor. There are two, one the intake tube just before the throttle body(this is a 3bar stock) and a second on top of the actual intake manifold(which is the 2 bar that people swap)

Did you install the driver side hot pipe as well as the noisemaker pipe ?

Had a boost leak out of the screw holes that holds the sensor to the EPP product once the turbos were upgraded . Sealed with some type of silicon the tech said. If I had to do it again I'm not sure I would have bothered swapping out the OEM unit.
