Exactly that....I really don't have the capabilities for datalogging, nor am I in a position to pick up a laptop any time soon. So, with my current chip possibly shot, I'm contemplating a TwEECer to replace it...but would it do me any good without datalogging? Or would it be just as worthwhile to just get my current chip replaced/reflashed?

Im going with a LPM tuned by Axinator. Cose:

1- i dont wanna buy a laptop only for that.
2-i know nothing about tuning.
3-i dont wanna spend 1k (tweecer+wideband) for 10 of more HP that its gonna provide more then a corecly tuned LPM.

Get the RT or reflash your current chip. It's nice to change stuff on the fly, but how do you know what to change if you can't see it?

I got my TwEECer RT AND laptop off eBay for $500. So dont think you need a $500+ laptop. A pentium II is fine.

You should be able to find a good laptop for around $100 maybe even less. The place I worked at over the summer had a bunch of half bad laptops that would have worked perfectly for a tweecer and I could have gotten them cheap(probably for a lot less then $50), but they wouldn't sell them to me.:frown: If they would have I could have sold them cheap to people on here. O well.

Get the TwEEcer now, get the laptop later. My .02. I hope to get a TwEEcer later this year or beginning of next. Datalogging is extremely helpful, so I would hesitate to short myself that particular tool. It's just money, right?:dig:

With out the data logging its basically a LPM you can guess tune or spend a lot of time on a dyno. It doesn't take much of a computer to run it either, I got some old p1 with windows 98se on it.

I see the point of view that it cost big money for wide-band + RT + laptop, but these tools make troubleshooting and tuning much easier. plus if you learn and understand what is happening based on datalogs and such, you may make better tuning choices.

besides, it's just money, you can get more.

Shop ebay or go to any local rugged looking computer fix it up shop tell them what you need and how much you have to spend. They'll usually help you out. :)

Speaking from several years of personal tuning experience on both my own car and other vehicles with devices ranging from an LPM, an EEC-Tuner and now the TwEEcer, and also given the relatively inexpensive price that laptops command these days, I can safely and wholeheartedly recommend that you spend the extra cash on a data logging-capable device like the TwEECer RT and related accesories. Not only will you be able to see what your EEC is up to, but you will also thank yourself down the road for opting for this ability. ;)

If a TwEECer setup is currently out-of-reach, then I would recommend that, at a minmum, you put your Superchip to work for you by giving Doug, Paul or Chris a call regarding your chip situation and exploring your possible reprogamming and/or replacement options.
