One my 91 i have an intresting problem with turning. Or at least intresting to me. When i turn my steering wheel is shimmying and some times almost seems like it is locked but half way through the turn. I rotated the tires and checked power steering fluid. The rotation fixed the shimmying some but it still seems as if the wheel is locking half way through the turn. It also seems as if my turning radious is not as tight as it should be. Any ideas?

I had almost the same issue with my 96. I don't know if this will help, but my upper steering column bearings were actually failing and the wheel would stay in one position despite the car moving and its urge to re-align.

Worth a shot

From the limited information in your description, it could be the seals leaking in the power steering rack or slipping power steering pump/water pump belt. There could also be a strut bearing problem, but only a close inspection can determine the true cause.

as scott said, it could be alot of things, but something to check in addition to those "lotta things" is the subframe bushings. I had some so bad, I had creaking, funny feeling steering, an occasional lock feeling. The subframe had been moving alot.

All better now. 75 bucks for 4 aluminum sfb's

Have you had the recall done on the subframe bushing bolt? I took mine to Ford and my buddy put it on a lift and noticed my bolt was busted. Definately get that checked.
