I reinstalled my front Bumper cover and lights today. My turn signals won't light up til I turn the headlites on... HUH? They won't blink. Nor will the 4 ways work. I did a search and really didn't see an exact same situation, my fuse is good. Dunno if the rear was lighting up as I had it outside today and the sun was tough to tell...

And it seems the right brake lights don't work either... But the "Lamp out" indicator doesn't come on.

Sounds like the turn signal elements are burt out on them. Do the turn signals blink in the back and dash?

Okay heres whats going on, I wedged a 2x4 on the brake pedal. Only the LED brake in the spoiler, w or w/out lights. Only the orange lights in the front next to the h/l with running lights position on switch, no rear or sides. Turn on H/L's okay, cornering lights will light when needed, still no signals, brakes or indicators. Fuses are fine. Looking at wiring diagrams, this makes no sense... Going out of town tomorrow, will have 'net access but not to car, please help! I would like to get it on the road soon!

Brain Fart!

Okay, I just had a huge Brain Fart! I forgot to screw the 2 huge grounds back to the core support right by the ABS computer! :banghd: Sooo all the lighting works now. Just the turn signals don't work. No light up or indicators. The flasher? And where is that bugger? I can't seem to picture it looking in the Chilton... Says above the fuse panel... Pics?

Okay got the panel under the steering wheel off to get my head in a better situation... Got the flasher, replaced it. Still nothing. (Gonna return that expensive B&%$H) Now I head for the switch... I unscrew the switch and as I'm manuvering it to pull the plugs off the 4 ways start to work! Still can't get the turn signals to work... I played with the 4 way switch it seems a bit gummed up, so I'm gonna clean it. Would it be possible to clean the whole deal and maybe the turn signals come back?

I answered my question in the last statement of the above post.... I opened up the switch. It seems the "anti corrosion" grease that was there at one time apparently turned itself into shellac. I had printed up the wiring diagram for the switch and was doing a some continuity tests while downloading some music. A few didn't add up. So when opened I had a couple of parts sproing out into my hand... I caught them and set them on the desk. The copper parts where everything slides to make the various and sundry contacts was covered in the shellac.
So I took the offending parts out to the garage and cleaned with a little bit of carb cleaner on a rag (I was out of contact cleaner). After that I took to all the copper bars with an eraser - ala slot car style. Cleaned 'em up right nice. While doing this the hazard switch decided to launch itself.... It was like "oh, Fudge ("except it wasnt that the F---")" from Ralphie in A Christmas Story as I heard the spring bounce around a few places. So out comes the mini-maglite (CSI style  ) to the last known plop. Got it and replaced the bugger. I reassembled the parts only once with a part left on the desk. Put it in and closed 'er back up. One screw decided to fall at my feet, I back up the chair and there is a green spring from something... I picked it up and dropped it in the pen/pencil cup. Tested the left/right/hi beam notches, all good... Out to the car we go! Plug it in, turn the key, left WORKS, right WORKS! All better.
Makes me wonder how many of these damn switches just need a real good cleaning. Would definetly save alot of us from what I priced a good $34-$50 depending on where you go!

I've taken mine and completely hosed it down with WD 40. The worked all the contacts. Took the end cap off the end and cleaned it as you did. Then used a small bit of petroleum jelly on the wiper disc. Replaced and all test out and work good.
