Redneck,

We're all being very sarcastic. We want you to stick around so don't take it personal.

With an MTX, You can run about 6 lbs of boost before you have to really start spending money. With fuel system upgrades, double that and have about 400HP under your right foot. Be careful, though; transmissions fail much sooner than the engines.

Has anyone on here put a supercharger or turbo or some kind of big power adder to their SHO?? I am just curious cause atleast where I am from not many people know what a SHO is and it would be kinda neat to just blow peoples doors off with a Taurus.

Redneck dont mind some of these guys, alot of them like to be search button police and will jump your ass as soon as you post a subject thats been discussed before, sometimes I like to post stuff just to get their ******* in a wad.

Yes there have been many of PPl that have boosted SHO's via supercharger or Turbo, if you ask me Turbo is the way to go!

But then again Im good friends with Tim (Toolman) and he has probably brain washed me!

Stick around this forum is a really good place to hang out, you just have to ignore some PPL, the search button is a good tool too and we encourge PPl to use it, there is a slew of good info here!

Welcome!

gary, huh? you're in my neck of the woods. like has been mentioned before, don't let the sarcasm chase ya off. word to the wise though; get your maintenance caught up before you start modding. a well modded but poorly maintained SHO is gonna be slower than a well maintained mildly modded SHO.

As for the original question ... I have one of the older supercharged SHO's with a 9 lb boost limit. It is tuned pretty conservatively, but still spins both front wheels when I get into the boost in second gear.

I don't drag race it. I built it for autocross originally, and its a daily driver.

I just wanted to add that I've been driving it with boost for a few years now and it is totally reliable. I took a road trip around our Province last summer in very hot weather and had no problems. So, depending on how you drive it ... boosting it won't necessarily lead to breakages.

Yeah I am not to worried about it. Thanks guys for the info. I am pretty well caught up on maintanence and I wouldnt do anything to the SHO until I get the Mustang done anyways because the SHO is going to be my daily driver until the mustang gets done.

smart man, as it's a well known fact that SHOs can't beat mustangs, so you may as well as well invest in the quicker of the two. so tell us about this stang...maybe post a pic of the two mighty Fords side by side...

The Mustang is a 94 picked it up for $150 bucks from a guy who was told it had blown head gaskets and the dealership wanted to charge him 3.5K to fix it. Body is in really really good shape and interior has always had seat covers and rugs over the carpet so the interior is in great shape. I already had a T-5 transmission at the house, I got a GT-40P motor with 60K miles (from an explorer) as well as a computer and all the wiring from a 95 GT for $350. Hopefully going to get it all together this summer. Hoping to get about 300hp out of just the motor after the cam change and tune and such. Those P heads are nice and the upper lower intake is the same as what came on the cobras. Trying to decide between 3.73 or 3.55 for the rear end.

3.73 is about the highest you can use before you start to reach the point of diminishing returns (unless you have a "lightened" engine/flywheel).
