Turbo removal and replacement direction or tips and tricks

Unhook o2 sensors and just feed the plug down with the downpipe. You can take them out with the sensors in tact.. Well I did... lol. Firewall turbo take out passenger axle and fender liner and work from there. Oil feed line will be last thing you do on firewall turbo. Front turbo should be mostly accessible from the top/bottom without having to fool with the radiator stuff much. Be sure to back flow your oil feed lines also as they have screen in them that car get gunked apparently. If you have troubles getting the oil feed lines off you can always take them off at the block also.

Oh also when you do the passenger axle there is a bracket that bolts to the block that you can remove for some extra wiggle room.


Got the back turbo in, what torque for the manifold to turbo bolts? Taking out both passenger shafts was the way to go I was able to get it in solo through the wheel well.

What torque for dp nuts?

Having a very hard time getting the oil feed line back into the block, is there a release from the tube to the nut that threads into the block? I can't get it squared up to the block to start threading it in. If I can get it disconnected from the tube then it would be cake but with the tube connected it's near impossible.

for me this is why I needed a second person. my buddy held it up and I connected the oil feed line from the top and then bolted it in place

I can't get it squared up to the block to start threading it in. If I can get it disconnected from the tube then it would be cake but with the tube connected it's near impossible.
Yes it's a slip type fitting. If can separate them if you have the line off the car with a pick. However as far as the torque specs go I'm a big fan of 3 uggas for the exhaust stuff. Aka impact go brrrr lmfao

I thought this fuel line tool would work but it didn't. Looks like I have to pull the turbo out again. It sucks that the torx bolt on the turbo oil feed is blocked by the exhaust manifold.

I thought this fuel line tool would work but it didn't. Looks like I have to pull the turbo out again. It sucks that the torx bolt on the turbo oil feed is blocked by the exhaust manifold.
Surprised the fuel line disconnect didn't work. I've gotten mine with a variety of picks and once with the fuel line tool. I'm a weekend warrior type of mechanic so make do without majority of tools lol

So Jordan, what do you recommend on the install order for the GH IC and front turbo? I'm thinking the IC first, then turbo, and then the fans.

To install front turbo you don't have to remove the fans/radiator/intercooler, but if you've already got it all out the way first may as well install the turbo then the ic/radiator combo and then finagle in the fans.
